London Plane Trees

Ever present in urban areas, it’s easy to overlook the magnificence and hard-working service that London plane trees provide. Simple, powerful, organic giants of our streets.

This creative exploration was sparked by a walk around Muswell Hill. From the roundabout I walked down Queens Avenue finding somewhere quiet to sit and sketch. It's usually houses, people, and general activity I capture, but the sky was overcast cotton white that day which set off the newly coppiced trees perfectly. Noble living organisms, reaching up like tightly strained hands to the sky.
